Virginia Campers

ADHD Summer Camp for Virginia Residents

If you’re a Virginia parent looking for a summer program that truly ‘gets’ ADHD, you’re in the right place. Camp Sequoia is a supportive overnight camp for boys and girls ages 8-18. We built our program around structure, coaching, and a lot of genuine fun.

Our summer campus is in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania. Virginia families join us every year from Northern Virginia, Richmond, the Tidewater area, and everywhere in between. We have a director who lives in the Shenandoah Valley and works with locals schools and James Madison University during the academic year. At Sequoia, kids find their people. We facilitate the powerful positive impact of  kids no longer being the ‘one who struggles’ in traditional settings finding their feet in a strength-based environment.

Summer Exploration in a Supportive Environment

Camp Sequoia sits in the sweet spot between a standard overnight camp and a highly clinical special-needs program. Campers get the activities they want from D&D to Magic: The Gathering to STEM and more. Campers are getting meaningful coaching whether they choose sports, waterfront, art, performance or outdoor adventure building confidence and life skills along the way.

At camp, our kids can “do school” (often at grade level or above), but need help with the ‘hidden curriculum’. This includes navigating friendship groups, reading the room, handling disappointment, and bouncing back after mistakes. To understand the foundation of the program, see our Mission & Approach and Who We Serve.

Virginia families often appreciate that our support is practical and natural. it happens during cabin clean-up, transitions to activities, team games, and meals. In other words: the exact moments that tend to be hardest for kids with ADHD, and the exact moments where the right coaching can change a summer and the trajectory of a life.

Campers also benefit from a well-designed physical environment: clear zones for sleeping, storing gear, and social time, plus predictable routines that reduce decision fatigue. Our blog post ‘Summer Camp: A Place for an Executive Functioning Victory’ is a great window into that design.

Our PA Residential Summer Camp is a Great Fit for Virginia Families

Campers coming from a few states away do just fine here – and our 2:5 staffing ratio allows us to notice the small stuff early (homesickness, social hesitations, missed meals) and respond quickly. If you’d like a feel for the adults behind the program, visit Our Team.
