For many New Jersey families, Camp Sequoia feels both refreshingly close and refreshingly different. Several of our summer trips take us into New Jersey for a trip to the shore with our kids. As an American Camping Association Accredited Camp, our team does professional development regularly in New Jersey. We’re an overnight summer camp in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania. We serve boys and girls ages 8-18 with ADHD and related social learning needs.
Our campers are typically bright and capable, but can get knocked off course by impulsivity, emotional intensity, or the constant effort of ‘keeping it together’ socially. At Sequoia, kids can stop masking and start building skills that actually stick.
Camp feels like camp for our kids: electives (like drones and D&D), games, STEM, creative arts, swimming, lake activities, and outdoor adventures. What’s different is the lens. Our staff are trained to coach social cognition and frustration tolerance throughout the day, so growth happens in the moments that matter (and not just in a classroom).
Our environment is intentionally structured and predictable, which helps kids with ADHD conserve their energy for the good parts of camp: trying, connecting, and having fun. If you want the full overview, see Mission & Approach and Who We Serve.
Facilities are a big plus for Jersey kids who love being active. We have robust STEM facilities, multiple gyms, basketball and tennis courts, art studios, a competition-sized pool, and an 800-acre lake for boating and fishing.
New Jersey campers often thrive quickly because the distance from home is manageable. It’s a place that feels like an easier transition from home. Not 12-16 kids in bunks in the woods, but rather semi-private rooms with a/c, desks, dressers and personal space as well as a shared age-group lounge for kids to authentically interact socially. At Sequoia, we turn those daily experiences into teachable moments and genuine success.
Our staff-to-camper ratio (2:5) gives us the ability to be present and proactive. That matters for kids with ADHD, especially during transitions, cabin life, and group activities. Learn more about Our Team that makes the program work.
